I enjoy this game (not this exact one, the actual game that inspired this one) and so I was happy to see someone made a flash version, and I enjoy the use of Pinhead and Micheal, but this looses points on many levels.

The glaring obvious is that this plays more like a game mode rather than a whole game. Meaning, two-player (especially local only with no online multiplayer option) is a possible selection in a game mode menu, not a standalone. Next, there are no instructions. Like many people, I grew up playing this game, but I have on rare occasions met 1 or 2 people that had never played it before. If someone like that were to find this game, they would have no idea what they are doing. They might eventually figure it out, but games should always have some instruction with them. As much as I enjoy the game this is based off of, it still needs some level of added flavor. Having the thumb nails of Pin and Mike are a nice touch, but that is all it is, a nice touch. Then there is the fact that there is no sound, what so ever.

Having brought up so many flaws, I feel that I should offer a little insight for possible ways to improve (beyond correcting what has already been pointed out). Adding some sort of story line would help this submission, in my opinion. Even if you just did some sort of dramatic comic book-style opening sequence of the two talking smack like they are about to throw down and then they play this instead to settle their differences. Next, add a computer opponent option. I know that falls into the category of "already pointed out" but, seriously... computer opponent. I know it is not something that would directly affect game play, but making the bars two different colors will help make the game more visually appealing as well. It is interesting to see who played what bar, but beyond that, the two colors will make the game look less dull. That or add some sort of background using dark colors and make the grid a brighter color (or colorful background with dark/black grid).

Other than that, the game is well programmed. I have played versions of this in which even once a player has the majority of the squares the game goes until the entire grid is filled, which I find to be a waste of time (in chess you stop once there is a checkmate, you don't play out the inevitable), so I enjoy that your version stops once a player has the majority of the squares.

Over all, the game is well programmed, but seems to lack planning. I highly advise updating the game and resubmitting.

I know the game sucks
i agree but this was the first game i ever made
i made it back when i was 16
still thanks for playing

I like the concept of this game, I just wish it would have been done much better. I get that it was made in 72 hours, but there are some glaring faults, mainly that the print in the little helper guy's dialog box is too small and goes too quickly for me to read if he is saying more than a couple of words. I would have really liked some kind of tutorial, it took me forever to realize that the cursor turns into a wrench when you hover over a nut, and then I couldn't tell if rotating around it was doing anything. Honestly, I think not having a single idea of what to do is what makes me give this game such a low score. I have played games in the past that do not give you much to go off at the start of the game, but they had some way of showing you were on the right track.

I would really like to see a highly improved version of this game, because I like the concept, but as I said, the implementation of the concept is lacking.

This game is still as awesome as it was when I first played it after it was uploaded. Hadn't played it in a while and so I decided to replay it and it is still as entertaining as ever. I like how even though it is 100% random luck it still finds a way to create a little bit of tension. Simplistic greatness, always a winning combination.

Most of what I have to say has already been said by Exedor, so there is that out of the way.

However, I also wanted to to throw out a suggestion and point out an error that I am not sure if you are aware of. The suggestion is that, having read some of the other reviews and your response I assume this is a work in progress. If so, I personally would move the Play button so that it is positioned where the start of the maze will be, that was the mouse does not start half way through the maze. The possible error I wanted to point out is that when you first start and the green box is at the bottom, you can move the mouse anywhere, the collision test doesn't seem to kick in until you make it to the first green box. Once I noticed this I realized that I could click Play and move the mouse up, then clockwise so I could bring the pointer in from outside of the maze walls. Once you get to the box and it moves, however, the walls become walls and you lose if you go outside of these walls.

Now, as for the half a star, it was really only because I did not want to give this a 0. The half star comes from my trust that this is a work in progress and the finished product will eventually be uploaded, which when and if it is I will be sure to play it, as I enjoy these types of games.

I have to say, when I started I thought this was going to be a waste of time, seeing as that I am 27 years old. This game, however, quickly reminded me that I am a 27 year old child, as it did not take me long to get stuck in that bug squishing mood. The game is very well programmed, though the artwork could use a few fine touches. I know, it's a kid's game, and I am not saying the artwork is bad, it is far better than anything I could do, but I think that smoothing out some of the graphics would go a long way in helping to keep the player playing (this does not apply to the background, which looks great). Also, the last con I wish to point out is the lack of animation. The mechanics are simple and beautifully programmed, but I think another aesthetic that would do a great deal to strengthen the game would be to animate the legs of the bugs so it looks like the are walk and not magically, though gracefully, gliding through the air.

All and all, interesting game that I think would go over well with the target audience.

Thanks for the constructive comment.

Solid, awesome game! I would like to see the graphics turned up a bit though. About half of the units look like what they are while the other half I just had to remember what sqaureish object was what. I would also like to see the shop cleaned up a little bit, maybe some sort of search filter.

All and all, pretty solid game. I put it in my favorites, so I will be visiting this game again and again.

I am still working on this, and have not fully launched this yet on the internet so your feedback is much appreciated. I will look into these suggestions and see what I can do.

Not bad, but not great.

I like the artwork. Visually, this game is great. Audio is pretty good as well. Really the only games like this I've seen on here are sarcastic spins on Duck Hunt, and while this game is very much in the same league as Duck Hunt, it stands on its own quite well. I do take issue with the speed of the game and the controls. The controls feel like they should be a bit looser. I would like to see the cross hair move quicker than it does, though this brings me to my next point, as it is possible this explains the slow cross hair movement. The game lags kinda hard, a good most of the time at that. If these two were taken care of, with the game's overall speed taking top priority, I would easily see myself bookmarking this game and coming back to it periodically.

I will start off by saying this is a great game. I was not originally going to write a review yet as I have not finished the game, however, after looking at some of these reviews I felt I needed to say something.

To start, this is an awesome game. I was about 5 or 6 when my sister and I got an NES for Christmas and the Mario/Duck Hunt cartridge was the only game it came with, so Mario was quite literally the first video game I ever owned. I have grown up playing all sorts of Mario games and even as a 27 year old I still love Mario as much as ever.

Why do I bring all of this up? Because this only factors in a little bit in me saying that I enjoy this game. Sure, its a clone, but if you aren't going to play a game because it's a clone you might as well not play anything that came out after 1993 (with few exceptions). The game is programmed great (aside from the fireball issue and the lag issue others have beaten to death already) and I love the artwork. You make the sprites look almost identical to the originals, but left enough artistic decisions to make this version distinctly yours. Great job on that, really.

Really, the only con I can think of that really keeps me from giving this game a perfect score is the lag. I can deal with the fireball thing, and I don't think the slow down effects game play quite as much as what other people are saying. I think it does take something from the whole experience, but I see it more as when the game slows down out of nowhere it kind of takes you out of the moment mentally, which to me is a big thing.

All and all, this is a pretty solid game. I can see it being lost in the crowd of Mario based games on here, but this is one that should be ranked among the top of them in my opinion. Keep up the good work!

Pretty solid game. I liked it. The last level is intense, lol, and I believe that is where a good portion of my final time came from. Great job on everything. Really the only place the game looses points in my book is the environment never changing. I like the way you handled the progression, but changing up the background would have been a nice touch.

Don't listen to anyone that says you can't get past the (insert section here) part of the game, just takes patience. Well worth the time to play.

Fun little game. I enjoyed it. Only complaint I would really have is the layering (which you mentioned in the description) and I would have liked to see a way to reset/clear the screen, or at the very least a way to delete/reset individual objects.
